Alley Gating
Alleygate security throughout the UK

Alley gating is a method of controlling access to alleyways surrounding residential and business properties. This controlled access is achieved through the installation of strong lockable gates and fencing placed at strategic locations within the alleyways.

Key Points:-

  • Alley gates are strong, provide unobstructed vision in and out of alley ways and are available in a range of designs from decorative to industrial
  • Keys are security coded therefore cannot be duplicated through normal sources
  • Alley gates reduce fly-tipping which leads to less rubbish, fewer fires, and a cleaner more pleasant environment
  • Alley gates have been developed in conjunction with local Fire Services to incorporate push paddle handle exit from within an alleyway and our standard locking system from outside
  • Local police authorities encourage the installation of alley gates to reduce crime
  • Alley gates are constructed using galvanised steel inner frames, topped off with powder coated-paint pressed panels and finished off with a moulded sectional roll bar which makes it difficult for anyone to climb over
  • Double alley gates are wide enough to provide vehicular access for most purposes, but can be custom manufactured to accommodate wider vehicles such as refuse collection vehicles
  • Alley gates meet current requirements to provide disabled access for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, etc

Our Churchill range of alley gates are designed for strength and endurance whilst ensuring an unrestricted view through the decorative gate leaves and panels. The Churchill range of products has held the ‘Sold Secure’ Gold Status Award and the ‘Secured by Design’ status since 2004.

We offer 11 standard combinations in our Churchill Ranges including designs developed with the Fire Service which incorporate push paddle handles as part of recognised fire exits for retail and leisure facilities.

The equipment also meets current requirements to provide disabled access for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The Alleygates can also be custom made to accommodate any size.

Our Commitment to Helping our Community

Shieldcom Engineering takes great pride in helping the local community, we have an apprenticeship scheme were local young people have the opportunity to gain skills, By allowing our trainees to gain practical experience in our workshop and achieve qualifications in engineering, ultimately improves their quality of life and their potential to gain employment.

We take every step to ensure that, prior to production, raw materials are ordered in such a way as to minimise waste.  Any surplus materials are used for training purposes and / or recycled through regular collections by a local scrap metal merchant.

Production Process

Processes such as galvanising and powder coating are undertaken by specialist sub-contractors who have the requisite equipment, health and safety and environmental policies to operate safely and with minimum impact on the environment.  We work towards reducing packaging to provide adequate protection whilst avoiding the use of non-biodegradable materials.

We are pro-active in involving local contractors and trades people where feasible (dependant on contract volume and duration) thereby supporting the local economy and potentially enhancing the local skills base.

Ranges

Our most popular range of products is our Churchill range of alley gates which, with proper use and maintenance, should provide an extra layer of security to local residents and businesses for many years.  In many instances, residents have taken back ‘ownership’ of alley ways, introducing flower pots and seating areas and have been able to start using this space as a community asset.

Secure By Design

Shieldcom Engineering has holds Secure by Design status. ‘Secure by Design’ is an Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) initiative, which aims to reduce crime through effective environmental design and also calls for the installation of security products that meet police-approved standards. This award demonstrates our commitment to safety and sustainability and in providing our valued customers with reassurance that our products match our performance claims.

Shieldcom Engineering also holds the highest security level of Sold Secure; this means our products have been proven to resist the highest level of vandalism. This level of security is aimed at preventing future attacks and has been proven to be highly effective.

Alley Gate Key Distribution & Management

At times keys do get damaged or misplaced. Shieldcom can offer a hassle free service to provide replacement or additional keys to all relevant parties.

Our Senator & Cardinal range of alley gates offer a high level of security whilst at the same time are more decorative than the Churchill design.

These designs are very popular, versatile and suited to a wide choice of locations and purposes.

The Senator range has in the past been installed as boundary security for public parks, entries to garages and standard fencing in a number of areas.
